In a brand new album, Stefan Unterleithner dedicates himself to rediscovering the ballads of the great composer Carl Loewe.

The settings of ballads by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Johann Nepomuk Vogl, to Ferdinand Freiligrath and Johann Gabriel Seidl, which were extremely popular just a few decades ago, with such extremely well-known pieces as "Erlkönig", "Heinrich der Vogler" or "Die Uhr" , which were so wonderfully set to music by Carl Loewe (1796 -1869) and recorded by all famous singers of the past, will be released in a brand new recording and collection in spring 2021 by Artworks Vienna Records.

In this album, Stefan Unterleithner dedicates himself to those ballads whose musical setting by Loewe has in the past carried the audience away to unbelievable storms of enthusiasm and resulted in an unbelievable admiration for the composer Loewe. According to records, contemporaries in particular were so enthusiastic that parts of the audience left the concert halls after concerts as if in a trance.

Loewe ballads in such a compilation have not been published for a number of years. The selection includes famous as well as unusual settings of ballads by Loewe.

Each of these ballads could represent its own opera and would also be accessible to a scenic representation. The interpretation of these scenes with vocal means represents the attraction of these compositions, which are dedicated above all to the supernatural, mystical and mysterious and would nowadays probably be assigned to the area of "fantasy" and "mystery". Pieces such as "Erlkönig" and "die Uhr ” are framed by mysterious pieces such as “Odin's Ride on the Sea ”, “ Meister Oluf”,“Der Schatzgräber” and "Der gefallene Admiral”. The recording is rounded off with historical ballads such as “Heinrich der Vogler” and also has an Austrian focus with pieces such as “Prinz Eugen der edle Ritter” and “Kaiserjagd im Wienerwald”.

One should not miss hearing and reliving these ballads with their mysterious kings, goblins and elves in mystical locations and their historical content.

"The singer's greatest asset is the thunderous power of his voice in the high registers, and the articulation is also clear"
